Windows 7 - Crashes to Desktop

So... I've decided to play One-half-Life from the very beginning all the way to EP2. However, Half-Life, Blue Shift and Opposing Force crash to desktop before the principal carte has even loaded (main screen appears then goes). No error message or annihilation. I take information technology the original HL games don't work on Windows 7 (64-bit) ???

Are you playing the original disk ones or newer Steam versions?

Steam version. Original HL though, not the "Source" version. Seems strange considering a directly Steam download is usually fine. I've tried integrity and cache as per usual... still nothing :/

Posted for anyone else having problems and comes to this folio via Google: **Question** I'one thousand running Windows Vista or Windows 7, and some or all of my GoldSrc games (Half-Life, One-half-Life: Bluish Shift, Opposing Force, Counter-Strike, Twenty-four hours of Defeat, Team Fortress Classic) volition get to the loading screen merely before the menu appears, then crash to desktop. How can I fix this? **Respond** Data Execution Prevention This may be caused by Information Execution Prevention (DEP) which is a security feature enabled on recent operating systems. Older games, such as GoldSrc games, were not created with DEP in mind and may trigger DEP's security features inadvertently. Delight try the following: ane.Go to Beginning > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Data Execution Prevention. two.Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:" 3.Select "Add together", navigate to C:\Program Files\Steam (or your default Steam directory), and add together Steam.exe to the exception listing. 4.Additionally, you lot volition need to add the executable (hl.exe, for example) for whatsoever game you are seeing issues with.
