Can I Change Zipato Bulb Color From Vera App
Controller choice (update)
Pro's and con's of the different models?
One of the most asked questions we get is which Z-wave controller is the best. There is no universal answer to this question, it depends on ones personal needs. We can give you personal advice, but in this chapter we will summarize the pro's and con's of the different models.
Fibaro Home Center 2
Still the fastest controller around.
Pro's Homecenter 2:
-Userfriendly interface
-Apps for smartphone and tablet
-Fast processor
-Fast interface
-The best integration with Fibaro's own modules
Despite the fact that Z-wave is an open standard, some features are better when using Fibaro only.
One example is OTA (over the air update of firmware)
- Well developed LUA debug programming interface
Error messages are clear, different colours for commands, variables, etc
-Many free plugins
Fibaro develops plugins for non z-wave devices like Philips Hue, Sonos and Nest
- Easy scene builder
With the graphical block-scenes you can easliy make automated scenes
- No monthly fee and no need to connect via Fibaro servers to make remote connection
- Speech control
- Integration with Satel Alarm system
Con's Homecenter 2:
- Expensive
Despite its capabilties still a decent investment
- No Z-wave plus chip
Not that we really mind, we think its more important for battery operated sensors
- Closed system
No option for users to create their own plugins. The 433Mhz RFXcomm module and the smartmetercable.
